“Was erlauben Strunz?” – this quote from the former coach of Bayern Munich, Giovanni Trappatoni, has become a classic in German. Claus Strunz, editor-in-chief of Bild am Sonntag and Hamburger Abendblatt for many years, has named his talk show on N 24 after Trappatoni’s gaffe. This shows that he can be ironic about himself – but also willing to attack. On Strunz’s show, there is no babbling. He likes to ask impertinent and hard-hitting questions, and he is not a man who stands on ceremony.

The TV boss has internalized the most important motto of journalism from Axel Springer: “Thou shalt not bore”. The Franconian is a regular guest on
Markus Lanz and the football talk show “Doppelpass”.

This is the reason why he was chosen as the host of the International Economic Forum. Strunz knows what’s going on on the street and also understands economic issues. He guarantees exciting discussions, but does not tolerate narcissistic, self-absorbed waffling.

Because of his unconventional questions, Strunz has a lot of talk-show experience. On n-tv, he hosted the “Grüner Salon”, on Sat 1 the political battle of words “Eins gegen eins”, on N 24 “Deutschland akut – der Welttalk”. Many Franconians, with the possible exception of Lothar Matthäus, are known to be extremely uncommunicative, which makes Strunz, a native Bayreuther, an atypical example.

For many years, the graduate in political science has been living with his family in Hamburg. During the week he is the boss of Sat 1’s breakfast TV show and is responsible for the program of MAZ&MORE TV Produktion GmbH.

The father of two is married to Anne Meyer-Minnemann, editor-in-chief of Gala. The two are a real power couple in German journalism.
